STUBBINGTON GREEN RUNNERS & A.C.

TODAY'S RUNNER WINTER LEAGUE 2011/2

RACE 4 – MANOR FARM COUNTRY PARK, HAMBLE

SUNDAY 29th JANUARY 2012 @ 11.00AM

Stubbington Green Runners and A.C. invite you to the 4th race in this season’s series which is to be held at the Manor Farm Country Park, near Hamble.

Directions:

The Manor Farm Country Park can be reached by leaving the M27 at Junction 8 heading towards Southampton and taking the third exit at the roundabout. After approximately a quarter of a mile turn right into Pylands Lane and follow this road into the park where signposted car parking can be found after about three quarters of a mile. Access to the park is normally available from 09.00am.

Parking:

Parking will be in the main Barnfield and Toplands car parks. Please note there is a parking charge of £2 per car so runners are encouraged to car share where possible. Please also do not park in the road as this will jeopardise our possible use of the park in the future.

Facilities:

Toilets at Barnfield will not be available due to renovation but there are toilets in the QEII Centre. There are no changing rooms or showers.

Course:

The start will be on the track adjacent to the road which leads to Manor Park. It is a 5 minute walk from the car parks. The race is a circuit of approximately 4.8 miles over woodland paths, grass tracks and gravel footpaths which are not really suitable for spikes although studded shoes would be practical. Runners will also encounter a few narrow gaps, short wooden bridges and steps. The Risk Assessment will be on display together with the UK Permit on the day. Runners must be aware that they take part at their own risk.

Results

Result sheets will be distributed on the day. When completed please pass them to me at the finish or hand them in to the person collecting refreshment money at the QEll Centre.

Refreshments

These will be provided at the QEII Centre located within the Park at the customary charge of £1.

The venue has been arranged courtesy of the Park authorities. Whilst we do not run on any bridleways we will cross over several so please be aware of any horse riders who may be around especially after last year's incident although we have taken steps to eliminate this prospect as far as possible. The Park is open to members of the public so runners will undoubtedly encounter walkers with dogs, so again please be aware. Please ask your runners to show courtesy if they do encounter a  non-runner on the course.

I hope you all enjoy the run.

Regards

John Tussler,  Race Co-ordinator
