1. Committee Meeting.

1.1 Club Chairman

The Chairman gave an update on the sponsorship offer from Stride Insurance. They were only interested in providing sponsorship if we changed our club colours, but the committee had decided not to do this. They were offered the chance of providing a gazebo in their corporate colours but rejected this.

The club would be providing a number of marshals for the Great South Run – Lee Weeks is co-ordinating.

The chairman thanked everyone for the excellent turnout at all the races so far.

1.2 Vice Chairman

1.2.1 Health and Safety.

With the onset of winter and dark evenings all runners must wear high visibility clothing. Brian Harris has some tabards for sale and Julia Revill has some that the club own for people to borrow. It was agreed that the club would buy some more to ensure that there was always some available. The club were putting sign out around the business park on training nights to warn traffic and runners are encouraged to keep in single file.

1.3 Club Secretary

The Secretary had received information from www.imigh.co.uk a sports clothing manufacturer.

Several charities are offering places in the Great South Run.

1.4 Club Treasurer

£100 worth of club kit had been sold. The club will receive £300 for providing marshals for the Great South Run. The only expected expenditure will be for the Christmas Mince Pie run. It is expected that the club will have a balance of approximately £1,150 by the end of the year. It was agreed to keep the membership fees at the current level.

1.5 Membership Secretary

The membership secretary reported a healthy club membership of 104. Julia had received emails encouraging us to sign up for an online payment system, the committee agreed that this was not required.

1.6 Club Captain

Apologies - Graham Bowpitt

HRRL Report

The club continues to feature very well in the HRRL and our standing puts a few bigger clubs to shame with our turnout and results well done to all striders that have featured in the first three races
A special mention to the ladies  team who at Solent came away with first female overall Laura Allen, Anita first in age category and Paula second
The x country season will soon be upon us and I urge all striders to try and participate in these free races as they are always good fun and good training I am willing to arrange transport to these races so please contact me via the website or at a training session
GO STRIDERS

1.7 X-Country Representative.

The races advertised on the website and newsletter were all confirmed except for the Liss race. Alison will check and let the club know when it is confirmed.

1.9 Social.

The Chairman continued thanks to Lee Weeks for organising the curry nights that were proving very popular.

Mark thanked all those who attended the quiz night and confirmed that the raffle proceeds covered the cost of the venue.

1.10 Publicity Officer

A quiet time overall in anticipation of targeting the Great South Run in late October.  Key events planned are:

. business cards being used out and around

. chase email where known of people who come e.g. Julian and Helen from summer

. postering the Denmead Shops

. letter an postering local doctor surgeries

. the Waterlooville Shopping Centre Saturday morning session on 29th Oct –Will start asking for volunteers next year – Tracy:  need a copy of the DS Public Liability Insurance Certificate so I can supply to Council – will create posters and business cards for us.

. Copies of posters so people can use in their workplaces

. Not sure of status of screen advert in Denmead Co-op, will check and see if we can exploit.

2.0 Coaching.

Lack of numbers of coaches is making things difficult. Graham Bowpitt is now taking some sessions and Kev is doing some Mondays. Anita is qualified so can step in if needed. It was agreed that we would seek volunteers to go on the course to qualify. If booked in advance there is the possibility of funding from Hampshire.

3.0 Club Kit.

Apologies – £100 worth of kit sold. Mark will promote sale of red hoodies and check that Brian has stock of hi viz tops.

4.0 Members Representative.

Graham Clarke reported that the HRRL are considering removal of County Championship Medals and had asked clubs for their views. It was agreed that we would have a show of hands on a Wednesday night to gauge opinion.

At the AGM is was suggested that we have a Club Marathon Championship award – it was agreed that the winner would be decided by the committee for improvement or special achievement rather than fastest times.

5.0 A.O.B.

London Marathon Draw. It was agreed that Mark would make announcements on the next two Wednesday evenings for people to bring their rejection notices which will go into the draw to take place on 2nd November. Places would be awarded to 2 people who had never done the marathon before and 1 place to someone who had. Three reserves will also be drawn.
